Trademarks refer to the mark of your trade. To be even more precise, trademarks are the marks that represent your business. However, once you have protected your mark, you need to ensure that only you can use that mark for your products/services. Therefore, in order to protect the Trademark, trademark registration is implemented.
Trademark registration is a form of registration after which you get the following benefits:
- 1. Exclusive ownership of the mark.
- 2. Trademarks that are registered have monatory value.
- 3. Your mark cannot be infringed by anyone else.
- 4. You can license your trademark for expansion of your business.
- 5. You can sell your mark through trademark assignment.
The process of Trademark registration can be put in the following steps:
- 1. Decide upon a unique and an inoffensive trademark.
- 2. Perform a trademark search to see if the mark is available for registration.
- 3. File the application for trademark registration.
- 4. Let the registrar of trademark check the application and the trademark.
- 5. Wait for a period of 4 months once the mark is published in the journal.
- 6. Get the certificate of registration for the trademark.
